Looks like Chiaki still doesn’t know very well how to relate to the members of the orchestra he is now the official conductor of. While he did show his “nice” side in the early part of the episode, apparently the stress of having to conduct the orchestra himself got to him, as at the end of the episode he began insulting the members of the S orchestra again.
This episode was definitely as excellent as the previous episodes were, with a flawless balance between humor and serious character development. I wonder whether Stresemann really is simply bitter about Chiaki undermining his harem, or if this is all a cleverly-constructed experience he made up to put Chiaki through.

Stresseman is a rather complex character in terms of his motives and whatnot. A lot of what he does seems to be for unethical reasons, but then again…you never know ;p

I’d say there is a 99.999% chance that he is doing this for Chiaki’s benefit. The stuff about a grudge is probably just him trying to get Chiaki’s goat and give him some motivation.
