While watching this, I couldn’t help but think about how weird this show is. Everyone at the base is really easygoing and casual considering considering the importance of their mission. Then there’s the whole “mecha has a mind of its own and I need to speak encouragingly to it to get it to work” thing. Oh, and the threat level categories for incoming meteors are named after candy… “mint drop,” “lemon drop,” etc.
Despite these oddities and the level of suspension of disbelief this show asks from the viewer, I still am enjoying it so far. Who knows, maybe it’s for no reason other than that I like the Sunrise My HiMe-like character designs.

Awesome dramatic key insertion sequence. Nice.

OBVIOUSLY being good at video games makes you a better mecha pilot.

That scene made me think of The Last Starfighter…

Yeah, whoever’s responsible for the English words has a serious sweet tooth, given the rings are named “Maple”, “Sugar”, and “Cream” and the levels of alert for drops are Mint, Lemon, and so on…
